Approval e-mail addresses for SSL Certificates
Posted by Phillip Baker on 12 September 2018 01:45 PM

In order to verify that the request for an SSL certificate is legitimate, SSL providers require the approval of a request for an SSL certificate by sending an email to one address from a list of "well known" or "constructed" administrative addresses. With the advent of GDPR and - frankly - undesirable changes to domain WHOIS as a result, it is no longer possible to have certificate requests go to domain registrant's email directly, as 3rd parties (such as certificate issuers) cannot (easily) look them up.

The following "constructed" email addresses can be used for approval of your SSL certificate request:

  • admin@
  • administrator@
  • hostmaster@
  • webmaster@
  • postmaster@
